IMPORTANCE OF REFRIGERATED SEAWATER SYSTEM

HOW IT WORKS?
The purpose of the RSW system is to remove heat from the seafood products as fast as possible into the evaporator and discharge the heat overboard through the condenser.
The refrigerant as low pressure is compressed to high pressure by compressor. The hot vapour passes through an oil seperator and is then cooled which causes it to become liquid in the condenser. Liquid refrigerant, at high pressure, flows into a holding tank called as a receiver. After which it passes through a filter drier and heat exchanger valve which meters the high pressure liquid as it rapidly drops to low pressure. This very low pressure liquid enters the evaporator where it gains heat and boils into a vapour. As the low pressure returns to the compressor it passes through a suction accumulator where any unvapourized liquid accumulates.
The heart of the Icelings RSW systems is the use of marine flooded chiller. These units are Shell and Tube designs featuring easy to remove heads for cleaning. Heat transfer is the most efficient in it’s class and the chillers are designed to handle the high water flow rates required for optimum exchange of the hold water.
Sea water strainers are provided to reduce fouling problems.
Water flow and refrigerant pressure safety controls are standard for all RSW systems.
